The elder Brother at OTAA explains his ideas behind the Deep Blue Cotswold Wool Diamond Self-Tie Bow Tie; "It's inspired by that time my boat capsized and I was forced to ride dolphins to shore." He was rowing his canoe in the middle of the Atlantic before it began to leak. The blue palette came from the idea that when his boat was submerged underwater, all he could see was an endless ocean of deep navy blue. He thought: “That’s what I’ll do if I ever get back to shore: design a deep blue bow tie. People will dig it and I’ll land a 60 Minutes interview!"
